CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 500-490 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 8.00 g, 4 h). ΤΑΡΑΣ Youthful oikist, nude and with long hair, riding dolphin to right, holding octopus in his right hand and extending his left; cable border. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ (retrograde) Hippocamp to right; below, cockle shell; rayed border. Fischer-Bossert 23 (V10/R18). HN Italy 827. Vlasto 126. Harshly cleaned and with a flan crack, otherwise, very fine.
